Method

  1. Annotate under letters to show their value
  2. A number before a letter means how many lots of that letter so
    1. 2a = 2 x a
    2. 5b = 5 x b
  3. When crossing over an equals do the inverse operation eg. 
    1. a + 4 = 12 
    2. __ + 4 = 12
    3. a = 12 – 4 
    4. a = 8
